Cheviot Hills was founded in 1924 and has served for many years as the filming location of movies and television shows due to its convenient location between Sony Studios and Fox Studios. Many properties in the neighborhood enjoy expansive views that overlook the Hillcrest Country Club and Rancho Park Golf Course and views of Century City, the Hollywood Hills, and the Hollywood Sign. Rancho Park draws many professionals and families and is home to residents working in various professional occupations. Historical records show the neighborhood was once a part of Westwood until Olympic Blvd. was placed, dividing the area North and South. Long-time local favorites include Marty’s Hamburgers and John O’Groats, located on Pico Blvd.

Schools in the area include Castle Heights Elementary, Overland Elementary, and Vista.
